Samil Industrial Free Zone
Samil Industrial is a mission-driven company committed to combat malnutrition and support better futures through high-quality nutritional solutions and sustainable partnerships.
Our Legacy
Samil Industrial was founded in 2011 in Khartoum, Sudan, with a clear humanitarian mission: to produce lifesaving nutritional solutions for children suffering from malnutrition. As a member of the PlumpyField® network, Samil partnered with Nutriset, the French family-owned company behind Plumpy’Nut® — the world’s first Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF).
From its inception, Samil quickly became a key supplier of RUTF and RUSF to humanitarian organizations across the region.
Our Roots: The SAY Group
Samil is a subsidiary of the Salih Abdelrahman Yagoub (SAY) Group, a Sudanese family-owned business founded in 1960 by Mr. Salih Abdelrahman Yagoub. Today, the Group is led by Mr. Hisham Salih, and continues to drive Sudan’s economy through innovation, food security, and agriculture.
SAY Group’s core focus areas include:
- Malnutrition Products (RUTF & RUSF)
- Groundnut Value Chain
- Meat Processing
- Crude Edible Oils
- Animal Feed (Cake & Meal)
- Food and Laboratory Testing
Conflict and Comeback
In 2023, Sudan’s civil conflict brought widespread devastation — including the destruction of Samil’s facility in Khartoum. But from crisis came opportunity.
Rather than retreat, we chose to rebuild — stronger, safer, and more resilient.
Samil is now constructing a new production facility in the Suez Canal Free Zone, Egypt. This factory is designed to meet international standards, strengthen regional supply chains, and serve millions of children across Africa and the Middle East.
Factory Launch Announcement
Our new Egypt factory will be fully operational by August 2025.

At Samil, nutrition starts on the farm. That’s why we’re deeply invested in local agriculture.
Supporting Smallholder Farmers in Sudan
Through Samil’s agricultural program, we support Sudanese smallholder farmers with seeds, training, and market access to grow essential crops like peanuts, sorghum, and wheat. This not only improves food security but strengthens local economies.
High-Oleic Peanuts: The Future of Nutrition
We are introducing High-Oleic (HO) peanut varieties in Sudan — a game-changing crop with improved oil quality, longer shelf life, and enhanced health benefits for children. Once we scale local production, Samil will begin using these Sudan-grown HO peanuts in our Egypt factory, creating a fully integrated and sustainable value chain.
